Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the construction of a 6-million-gallon-per-day (6MGD) water treatment plant in Hyderabad to help address the city’s ongoing water shortage.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials including Jam Khan Shoro briefed participants on the project details.

As part of the plan, 22 acres of land have been allocated for the facility. The chief minister directed authorities to immediately begin implementation and complete all legal and administrative procedures on a priority basis.

Murad Ali Shah emphasized improving the city’s water supply and filtration system to ensure better access to clean drinking water for residents, highlighting its importance for public health and living standards.

He also instructed strict monitoring of land use and project execution to ensure transparency, timely completion, and effective results.

Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve urban infrastructure and promote sustainable development in Hyderabad.
